Inspiart AIチーム

An introduction to the team AI in the Inspiart project

Hello everyone! How are you? This is Hyon Kim, an R&D engineer of EYS-STYLE Inc.
Today I would like to introduce my AI team working in the Inspiart project and its environment to you all. Nowadays, globalization of engineering work is a hot topic in Japan. My team is very diverse and global and there is no Japanese people in the team, in fact.

The profile of the members are as follows.

Hyon Kim (at the center in the picture)

Graduated from Waseda University with Bachelors degree, majored in Applied Mathematics.Graduated from National University of Singapore with Master’s degree majored in Mathematics. After completing his studies, he worked as an engineer and developed modules of sensor fusion, outlier detection and object detection for autonomous vehicles in Singapore. On returning to Japan, he worked for projects regarding speech recognition and anomaly sound detection. His current projects include music generation and sound source adjustment.

Zhang Sen (PhD.) (at the right in the picture)

Moved to Japan from China when his age of 15. He skipped a year of high school and entered Chiba University. PhD in high-energy physics. After working for an IT company and AI startup, curretly he is involved in R&D projects in music.

Alex Khadanovich(at the left in the picture)

From Belarus. After graduation from Tokyo City University, continues research on end-to-end speech recognition system at the same university. At the same time, he joined the EYS-STYLE Inspiart project and works on the development of a machine learning based noise reduction system. He specializes in the research on neural network architectures.

You can see how diverse it is, can’t you? They are very international and distinct in their technical background. The thing which is in common among all of us is that we want to develop a software and applications for people who want to enjoy their music more, by technologies based on research and analysis of signals in music. This common mindset would be very important when you work as a team for a development since giving many different ideas to the goal is important.

Other than skills and the mindset of each engineers, you might be interested in our languages to work. In fact, we have six languages in total (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Belarusian and English).  We do not have any common native language. As a result, we use Japanese when we have a discussion in the team. However, English is spoken in a conversation between Alex and Hyon, Japanese between Sen and Hyon and Japanese and English between Alex and Sen.

This is to maximize our expression in conversation. Basically latest documentations of machine learning and signal processing are written in English so it is easier for us to explain those words in English. Furthermore, you are educated in English it is even easier to communicate on those topics. Language in casual conversation is the same, followed those professional conversation.

When you work in developing things with people from different background, you will find various ways of thinking and solving a problem based on the thoughts. Personally I love this situation. Of course, your way is not only and unique way to go forward. After finding those different approaches form your team, you will grasp idea of new ways. This boosts up efficient communication and discussion based on mutual respect.

Lastly, I would like explain our working environment. We work in flex-time and its core time is noon to 4pm and working hours in a day is 8 hours. You can come, go to lunch and go back to home anytime you want to as long as you are working during the core time. If you work on weekend, you can get holiday in leu of course. I like this working style since you can go public office or bank to do admin stuff when it is needed for dealing with your urgent personal business.

In this kind of team and environment and cherishing the goal and teamwork, we work for the project to develop  musci technologies. Applying latest AI techniques which is rapidly growing, we try and work hard to connect technologies and sound. We also convey our knowledges by holding study sessions. (Link)

We are expanding our team and hiring! If you are interested in the project join our team (Link)!
